About
[Against] Animal Capitalism is a research platform that presents the work of artists, activists and scholars committed to intersectional antispeciesm and social justice in order to deconstruct left discourse so as to accommodate nonhuman animals; to identify points of connection between our disparate struggles; and ultimately to articulate a multispecies left politics that fights for the liberation of all animals, human animals included.
This website was created and is maintained by artist Terike Haapoja as a public window for her research on animal capitalism. The project contributes to an emerging field of activism and scholarship that aims at bringing total liberation to the forefront of left politics, environmental justice and contemporary posthumanities, and argues that the term “animal capitalism” should be used as an umbrella concept in a way similar to “racial capitalism” and “petrocapitalism”.
